Abbreviations are used by all branches of the United States Military. They use abbreviations to provide information at a much more rapid pace and to save time when giving orders or describing plans of action. Below you will find a list of the most used abbreviations relied on by the Navy. Additionally, many of these abbreviations are used by the United States Navy SEALs.

All Navy SEALs must have the proper gear, clothing, and weapons necessary in order to carry out their missions. If a Navy SEAL were not to wear the gear and equipment that is specific and built for the climate and terrain of the location they are carrying out a mission, they could put themselves and their platoon in jeopardy. Therefore, all Navy SEALs must familiarize themselves with the many tools at their disposal.
