Stealth is one key element of performing as a Navy SEAL and you may find that you need to take out your enemies before you can get close enough to carry on the mission. Having sniper rifle cover can also help when you are trying to sneak in and achieve a goal under the enemy’s noses. For this type of firepower, the MK11 will prove to be a great tool for Navy SEALs to use. This particular rifle is a modification of the SR-25 automatic rifle, adapted to fit the needs of Navy SEAL missions. This is a highly accurate gun which performs like the M4A1 or M16 rifles, except that it will deliver its ammunition to ranges of 1,500 yards, much farther than the other guns can be considered reliable for.
When Navy SEALs use sniper rifles, they often need to provide silent but deadly assistance. They are sometimes used to provide cover for teammates who are in enemy territory acting out a mission. They are also often used to clear an area before sending the SEALs themselves in. Traditional sniper rifles, however, will be used to disable people to clear the way. Sometimes a sniper rifle will be needed to take out larger obstacles and this is when SEALs will make use of the M82A1 rifle.
All Navy SEALs must have the proper gear, clothing, and weapons necessary in order to carry out their missions. If a Navy SEAL were not to wear the gear and equipment that is specific and built for the climate and terrain of the location they are carrying out a mission, they could put themselves and their platoon in jeopardy. Therefore, all Navy SEALs must familiarize themselves with the many tools at their disposal.
When the Navy SEALs fired the shots that Easter Sunday that now made them even more famous than they already are, they did not use just any rifle; what they most probably had with them were MK11s – the rifle that is touted as “one of the finest semi-automatic sniper rifles in the world”.
