Navy SEALs Charged with Assault: The Human Factor

December 14th, 2009

As a third-generation military veteran, I have seen my fair share of service members performing their duties under volatile, emotionally-charged, extreme circumstances. I’ve heard stories from brave men and women in situations that most of us would only see in movies or hear about on the news. Even in my own family, there are tales [...]

Remembering John F. Kennedy

November 23rd, 2009

One cannot look back at the beginnings of the Navy SEALs without thinking of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy. It was under his presidency when the Navy SEALs actually came into being, despite the fact that the SEALs can trace their “ancestry” to teams who fought as far back as the Second World War.

Navy SEALs Recruits Should Avoid Smoking At All Costs!

October 15th, 2009

It should come as no surprise to anyone that smoking is one of the most detrimental ways that you could affect your health.  Tobacco use affects the body in serious ways by withholding essential nutrients from giving your body the boost that it needs to perform at the highest possible levels.  If you are considering training for the Navy SEALs, smoking is one of the last things that you will want to do as it will bring your performance down exponentially.
Not only will the nutrients which are going to strengthen your body become blocked, but your breathing will become labored as well.  The more that you smoke, the more deadened the tissue in your lungs will become.  It will be harder and harder for you to inhale properly and when you do take a breath, you will not be able to absorb the full levels of oxygen from it.  That reduced oxygen intake will lower your ability for running, swimming, heavy lifting, and even with concentration.

Navy SEALs become strong and active based on the nutrients which they are putting into their bodies. Vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates will all combine to give your body the strength it needs to go through Navy SEAL training and refine you into a SEAL-worthy candidate. You’ll be able to absorb these essential nutrients based on the diet that you develop, although you’ll need to be careful. For as many positive food that you can eat, there are just as many negative effects that certain foods could give you. Caffeine is one of these elements.

How Will Alcohol Affect Navy SEAL Training?

October 13th, 2009

There are many conflicting reports about how alcohol can affect your system. While it is universally agreed that too much alcohol is incredibly harmful, you will find some doctors who say that the anti-oxidents in alcohol can be beneficial in moderation, while other specialists say that alcohol should be avoided altogether. Recruits to the Navy SEALs should be careful, therefore, about their own alcohol consumption and potentially cut it out of their diets until they are at their peak physical levels.
