A feature-length documentary that tells the story of the late Lt. Michael Murphy is now showing in select Regal Cinemas nationwide.
“Murph: The Protector” tells the honor, courage and commitment of Murphy, straight from the mouth of friends, family, and teammates.
The Washington Post gave the documentary a rating of three out of four stars, describing it as a narrative that’s compelling, relatable, and sentimental.
In the film, Murphy’s parents fondly recall his childhood spent in Patchogue, New York, while former teachers and classmates recognize the fallen Navy SEAL as a borderline saint.
Murphy was one of the 11 Navy SEALs who died in combat during the 2005 Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan. In 2007, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic act. His other awards include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon and National Defense Service Medal.
