Pacific Partnership, an annual U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian and civic assistance mission, has brought together U.S. military personnel, host and partner nations, non-government organizations and international agencies to the Philippines to enhance a collective ability to respond to natural disasters and crisis and build stronger regional ties.
On June 30th, the sailors and volunteers who took part in the Medical Civic Action Project (MEDCAP) of the Pacific Partnership 2012 made a new record by checking more than 1,000 patients in one day. Missions were conducted in 25 sites in Samar and Northern Samar, which helped several thousands of Filipino patients. Services included dental, optometry, pediatrics, adult care and minor surgeries.
There were also engineering projects done to support the community, such as school buildings, playgrounds and health clinic, as well as donations of school supplies to education centers and equipment to the health centers.
The Pacific Partnership team left Samar, Philippines on July 1st.
