Country music superstar Keith Urban has lent his voice to the Navy SEAL movie Act of Valor. The song, “For You,” marks the first time that Urban collaborated on behalf of a movie.
The husband of Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman had once said that he would rather keep his personal and professional lives separate, unless the project was worth it. He was quoted as saying: “After seeing Act of Valor, my co-writer (Monty Powell) and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us… Valor shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘What am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”
In addition to making an exception for the movie and agreeing to do a song for a film, Urban is doing something else for the Navy SEALs and their families. The country music star is also donating all artist and publishing royalties to the Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides support to Navy SEAL families.
Keith Urban said: “I felt so privileged and honored to have been given the opportunity to be a part of ‘Act Of Valor’ and to shine a different kind of light on the work that the SEALS do.”
The song was played during the film’s closing credits, and was released April 9. It is available through www.keithurban.net, iTunes, and Amazon.
