The United States Navy, in partnership with more than 25 large employers, is hosting a hiring fair for Veterans and military spouses on Saturday, February 25.

It is the first time that such an event is being held. Called the “100,000 Jobs Mission Hiring Event,” it will be conducted at Naval Support Activity Bethesda, in Maryland.

The hiring fair is open to Veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses. It is part of the Joining Forces initiative, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, in order to gather support for troops, Veterans, and their families.

Brad Cooper, executive director of Joining Forces, shared the following in an activity news release: “America is clearly hiring once again and efforts like this from our nation’s employers are exactly what’s needed to put our talented veterans and their spouses to work… Teaming with the Navy at an event in Bethesda that brings job opportunities to veterans, spouses and wounded warriors is a win for everybody.”

There are more than 25 large employers from various industries that are seeking to hire Veterans and military spouses for entry level to management positions. There will also be organizations on hand to provide information about free programs available to Veterans for their transition.

Nate Herman, executive director of military and Veterans affairs for JPMorgan Chase, shared: “Veterans bring much-needed skill and talent to the workplace. They are disciplined, hard-working and excellent team players. Every member of our coalition recognizes that and understands how valuable they are to our businesses.”
