At a time when the harsh reality of the dangers faced by those who lay their lives on the line for their country is placed in the spotlight, it becomes even more evident that those who lie about courage and heroism should not be allowed to get away with it.

The Justice Department has called on the Supreme Court to uphold the “faker law,” which makes it illegal for hero wannabees, who lie about being a war hero.

An appeal has been formally filed by government lawyers on Thursday, as the law has been challenged in the states of California and Colorado.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in California found the law to be in violation of the First Amendment, while the 10th Circuit in Denver is in the process of reviewing the law, after it was deemed as unconstitutional, and in violation of the First Amendment, by a lower court.
