Army Launches Military App Store!

Posted April 29th, 2011 by USNavySeals

An app store that is designed to cater to the app needs of military and Army personnel has been launched by the U.S. Army. The app store will offer Android and iOS apps that will be most helpful to military personnel.

According to a feature on the Android Community website, aside from offering helpful apps, soldiers may also request for apps that are not yet available.

Army Marketplace

The name for the site is not yet official, according to the feature, but for now it is being called the Army Marketplace. The app store is currently web-based, but may eventually be released as an actual market app. As of now, there are 17 Android apps and 16 iOS apps that are available. Not everyone can log on to the site, however; it is available only for personnel of the Department of Defense, who have a login name and password. The app store is expected to become fully operational by August.

Army Marketplace is done through the joint efforts of the U.S. Army CIO/G-6, the Office of the DoD Chief Information Officer, and the Defense Information Systems Agency.
