All over the country towns and cities are planning different activities to mark Memorial Day.

In Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, Memorial Day weekend will kick off on Saturday with a Veterans Memorial Tribute at Memorial Park. The big event, however, will be on Monday, with the Memorial Day Parade which will commence at 9 in the morning. The parade will move north on Eight Street, pass through downtown and end with a program at Fountain Park.

In Kiel, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, the Memorial Day parade will be followed by a ceremony that will dedicate a memorial in honor of Staff Sgt. Amy Krueger. Krueger graduated from Kiel High School in 1998 and was one of the victims during the shootings at Fort Hood, according to a feature on the Sheboygan Press.

In San Luis Obispo, California, Monday’s Memorial Day celebrations will feature flyovers performed by World War II and other military aircraft, which can be seen from Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, Santa Margarita, and Los Osos cemeteries, according to a feature on the San Luis Obispo Tribune. The event is sponsored by the Estrella Warbirds Museum of Paso Robles, the American Legion, and AMVETS National Service Foundation, and those who will participate – Freedom Flight pilots, crew members and aircraft owners – are all veterans of various wars, from the Second World war to the present.

There will also be a Memorial Day Veterans Remembrance service at the San Luis Obispo Cemetery, where there will be a presentation of medals of valor to families with loved ones who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
