We certainly hope that the good news will keep on coming. The latest on the assault charges against the SEALs: Navy SEAL Jonathan Keefe has been EXONERATED of the charges brought against him, a mere day after Navy SEAL Julio Huertas was declared not guilty.
An e-mail message from Josh Irving of Support Our SEALs, who is encouraging all those who are one with their cause to repost his reports and messages of support, contain the following statement from the law firm of Puckett & Faraj, PC, which represents Navy SEAL Matthew McCabe:
“We just learned that SO2 KEEFE was FOUND NOT GUILTY in Military court in Iraq. Two of the three Navy SEALs accused of detainee abuse of Ahmed Hashim Abed have now been fully exonerated by a military juries. The Law Firm of Puckett & Faraj, PC is now calling upon Major General Cleveland to dismiss the charges against the remaining Navy SEAL, SO2 Matthew McCabe. To proceed with the trial against SO2 McCabe would be a tremendous waste of tax payer money.”
While these verdicts certainly give the SEALs and their supporters a boost of confidence, this is still not a time to rest on one’s laurels. The Support Rally scheduled for May 3 is still on; there will also be rallies in San Diego, Tampa and Fort Worth. Irving reminds people to “please continue to move forward with your plans because the last thing we want is to assume it will be thrown out and then not have a good showing of support on that day while McCabe sits in a courtroom”.
If the charges against Matthew McCabe do get dropped, a celebration party may be planned in Virginia, so continue to check for updates on the Support Our SEALs website.
