We have featured Debbie Lee in a number of our previous posts, being as it were that she has been one of the more outspoken supporters of the men and women who are putting their lives on the line in the service of their country. She knows all too well the pain and suffering that war can bring, having lost her beloved son Marc to the war. Marc Lee was the first Navy SEAL who was killed in the war in Iraq.
Debbie Lee has since devoted part of her life to sharing her experiences and stressing the importance of the sacrifices that our deployed troops are making for their country and their countrymen, and how we should be expressing out support and our gratitude for everything that they are doing. It is for this reason that Debbie Lee is heading back to her hometown of Hood River, Oregon – to face off with people who preach the exact opposite of what she stands for: the anti-war protesters.
According to an article on the Canada Press, Debbie Lee is representing the pro-troop organization Move America Forward to lead a pro-troop rally in Hood River on Saturday, April 17. At the same time, there will be an anti-war “conference” where Cindy Sheehan is expected to speak against the War on Terror.
Cindy Sheehan, like Debbie Lee, lost a son in the War. Her son Casey was killed on Palm Sunday, April 4, 2004 after volunteering to go on a combat mission to rescue a group of soldiers. Unlike Debbie, who saw her son’s sacrifice as a reason to speak out in support of our troops, Cindy has chosen to do the opposite.
