Posted January 19th, 2010 by USNavySeals

A previous post shared how former Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick took some parachute webbing while in Southeast Asia in order to stay in shape. He eventually set out to create a fitness empire, beginning with the purchasing of a sewing machine.

The TRX Suspension Trainer is a portable workout system designed to give you an intense full body workout in under 30 minutes. Randy Hetrick’s TRX is widely used by athletes, including players for the NFL, NBA, MLB, the military, trainers, UFC fighters, and professional tennis players.

TRX Suspension Training Pro PackTRX Core training is performed on the TRX Suspension training equipment. It is a complete bodyweight training system that offers you a fusion of strength, core stability and balance for athletes of all fitness levels. It is performed using your own body weight, eliminating your need for bulky and expensive exercise equipment.

Most exercises done on the TRX suspension trainer uses core muscles as stabilizer muscles.

TRX suspension trainers can be used by deployed soldiers – Navy SEALs included – to build functional strength to develop peak military fitness anywhere they are stationed. The TRX FORCE kit includes a cutting edge exercise program which equals the demands of military service. For almost $220, the product can reportedly help you “get Navy SEAL strong in 12 weeks”.

As a sample workout and variation, perform the upper body exercises on Stew Smith’s 20-minute circuit workout using the TRX suspension trainer. The suspended pushups, for example, actually force your core muscles to work harder to stabilize your body.
