What Benefits Come to a Navy SEAL?

Posted November 6th, 2009 by USNavySeals

As you may know, Navy SEALs are compensated for all of their hard work ns14toward keeping America safe. Not only do they receive a basic pay scale, but they are paid for special skills and tasks that they perform on missions as well. This is not where the compensation of a Navy SEAL ends, however. There are plenty of other situations where Navy SEALs will be treated to benefits which help to provide even more coverage for all that they give. These considerations range from vacation time to insurance policies in their names.

All of the medical and dental coverage which a SEAL needs will be covered, freeing them from the hassles and expenses which go into a typical visit into an office. This will help any SEAL to stay in top shape, allowing them to not have to worry about their health. A life insurance policy will also be covered for a SEAL, helping to provide for the SEAL’s family, should anything happen to that sailor. Every year, 30 days of paid vacation will be provided to a SEAL as well, helping them to spend time with their loved ones.

Once the Navy SEAL decided to retire, pay will be granted based on that retirement. Education will also be provided to a Navy SEAL for as long as they want it, which can help any of the SEALs continue in life once their time in the military is complete. All in all, for the services which a SEAL provides to the country, the country will return in gratitude for their vigilant service.

*NOTE:   (In response to comments made)  All branches of the US Military do in fact receive this type of health coverage and treatment.  It was not intended for readers to assume that only Navy SEALs receive this type of medical care.  However, this blog has a focus on the Navy SEALs, therefore our articles speak directly of the Navy SEALs and the benefits which they receive.

ALL members of the US military armed forces receive “free medical and dental coverage”. ALL members of the US military armed forces receive “insurance coverage”. ALL members of the US military armed forces receive additional pay for special skills and tasks performed (such as hazardous duty pay, combat pay, parachute pay, demolition pay, etc). ALL members of the US military armed forces receive “30 days paid vacation each year”. ALL members of the US military armed forces are eligible for continuing education benefits after leaving the military service (whether they ‘retire’ or not).

The title of your BLOG implies that only Navy SEALs received these benefits, and nothing could be further from the truth! Suggesting that other members of the US military armed forces do not receive these standard benefits is not only inaccurate, but it does a tremendous disservice to the efforts being made by US military recruiters by implying that only the most elite and highly trained warriors are eligible for things like medical, dental, and insurance coverage. Please get your facts straight. If you don’t know something, don’t just make it up… please contact a Navy Recruiter.

One last note… Navy SEALs are SAILORS… US NAVY SAILORS… they are not “soldiers”. Those serving in the US Army are known as “soldiers”. If you’re going to write about the NAVY SEALS, please get it right… and refer to us properly as SAILORS.
