The Official Navy SEAL Database

Posted October 4th, 2009 by USNavySeals

1380_bigThere is only one-hundred percent accurate way to determine if a person is a member of the Navy SEALs or not.  This is through the Navy SEAL Database.  The SEAL database includes the names of every man who has served as a Navy SEAL.  However, there are a few gaps in time throughout history when files were either lost or damaged.  But currently, the database contains less than 11,000 names of men who have served as Navy SEALs.

This database is used by the United States Navy and can be accessed by other Navy SEALs.   Navy SEALs use this system to validate other Navy SEALs and to assure that people are not fraudulently claiming to be Navy SEALs.  In fact, many false Navy SEALs have been identified since Navy SEALs gained access to this database.

The SEAL database was comprised based on records dating back to the 1940’s. There is a small gap during WWII when records were misplaced.  However, the Navy SEAL database is considered to be the most accurate and professional database of its kind.  In fact, it is the only database which the United States Navy recognizes as being official.

This database may not be accessed by common citizens.  This is to protect the identities and privacy of those men who are listed.  However, by contacting a Navy SEAL you can ask them to run the names of people who are claiming to be Navy SEALs and they can inform you if they are truly Navy SEALs or not.

    Sirs,
Again you hve done a credible job in compiling information, but there is a small-but-very-important point that you missed.

Prior to 1999 there was no SEAL Database. The US Navy did, indeed, have all of the records related to the training program and where men had been assigned, but that information was widely scattered among several locations.

A former Navy SEAL – R.D. RUSSELL – set about gathering the names and credentials (and contact information) for the other members of his BUD/S class… and for the men in the two BUD/S classes immediately ahead of his, and the two BUD/S classes immediately following his. Mr. Russell’s logic was that the members of these five classes were the men with whom he operated the most, and he wanted to stay in touch with them.

However, as his list grew, he encounted men who also held name lists, and incorporated that additional information with his own. Ultimately he petitioned the US Navy for the UDT/SEAL Training information, but was told that it could not be given to a “private individual”. Mr. Russell then set about creating a formally-recognized NOT-FOR-PROFIT organization which he called The Naval Special Warfare Archives. Once established, he again petitioned the Navy for the information… AND WAS GRANTED ACCESS.

Mr. R.D. Russell and his wife spent some TEN YEARS and approximately $50,000 out-of-pocket to create a comprehensive listing of every man who had served in Naval Special Warfare… from its earliest days in WWII to the present day.

In 1999 Mr. Russell presented the database to the US NAVY. They were AMAZED, and awarded The Naval Special Warfare Archives recognition for the most significant contribution to NSW for that calendar year. Mr. Russell was subsequently asked to return to Coronado, California, and formally address a graduating BUD/S class.

While the US Navy has expanded upon that database with the names of more recent BUD/S graduates since it was presented to them by Mr. R.D. Russell and his NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE ARCHIVES, the core document listing something in the order of 11,000 names is the result of a decade of dedicated work by Mr. Russell and his wife.

To this day, all SEAL Database documents in existence are either copies of Mr. Russell’s original database, or portions thereof. Although not classified, the information is treated as highly sensitive and is not available to the general public.

There has been an effort in the last year (2008-2009) to resolve differences between lists held by the US Navy, the UDT-SEAL Association, the UDT-SEAL Museum, and the NSW Foundation, and that action will result in a more universally accurate database. That, too, is considered highly sensitive and will not be available for public access or distribution.

Thanks again for telling the public the truth about the real SEAL Teams, and not falling back on Hollywood hype.

Hey Am I in the data base? Rob Guzzo??

  3. Shipmate

As a former sailor and having worked with the teams in Rota,Spain I was wondering how to check on a couple of things. The first I have is about a shipmate and wondering if he was a SEAL and the other about finding a a couple of the SEALS that I worked with.

  4. J.W. Head

Am wondering about Jesse Ventura’s (James George Janos) claim to have been a SEAL. Much information I come across points to his having not been a SEAL Team member but I want to know if this has ever been looked into here. I just read a 10 year old article written by a Bill Salisbury, identified as a former Navy SEAL Commander, who says Ventura was never a SEAL despite his claims to have been one in his book.

    Thank you.

My Mother’s boyfriend claims to have been a NAVY SEAL. I am having a really hard time believing this as I am a NAVY brat and most of the men in my family including my husband are veterans, and he just does not strike me as someone who has been in the military, no military bearing at all. He is always bragging about being a “revered” SEAL and has even told my family that his picture is hung at the Coronado training facility. The only information that I can get from him is his name… John Ross. He is in his mid-fifties. I dont want to call him out and cause problems between family members without having actual proof that he was not a SEAL. I need hard evidence, and I cannot file to get his records because I cannot obtain any info. from him but his name. I fear for my Mother’s safety because of this man. PLEASE HELP ME!!

  6. donna

i am dating someone who claims to be a seal. i would like to find out the truth. if someone could help me i would appreciate it.
    thanks

  7. TheSwabbie

Swabbie chiming in, contact the POW Network.Org if you suspect someone is not a genuine SEAL at INFO@POWNETWORK.ORG. Supply the information requested and they can help you find out (through Steve) if an individual graduated BUD/S or not.

Make sure that if they do an investigation you make a donation to the cause. The POW Network, Chuck & Mary Shantag work extremely hard to help REAL Veterans but equally as hard to Expose POSERS/LIARS/WANNABE’s as well as my Shipmate Steve Robinson (SEAL). If you think that the Government (VA) or a family member is being defrauded by an individual this is the place to start. Get the REAL information you need to either “Stand Down” or “Pipe Up”.

How can I get a team roster of my old team mates? UDT-12
from late 69 to 73? Capt.Peterson and Capt. DeFloria were my CO’s. My cruise books were destroy by my Ex and I would like to have the names of my old team mates.

  9. Jean Sarosy

My ex-husband died last year. When the kids were younger he told us on several occasions about being a diver in Vietnam. He had several medals which he would look at now and then but would never talk about. Is there any way to find out if, in fact, he was a SEAL?

Any information you can provide would be helpful to his now grown children who realize that they knew very little about him.

    Thank you.

  10. frank c roberts

please send class roster of bud/s training class 92.

    Robert Barnett:

Did the Phillip Huston you met happen to be a somewhat disheveled older man who was traveling to Ohio?

  13. Robert Barnett

I met the guy in Springfield, IL where I live at an ACE Hardware. He said he was living with a gentelman named Donald Henley in Gilmer, TX. I do not know about Ohio but he was a dusty character, an older man. He gave me a phone number to call him. I am a Special OPs Collector and I asked him if he knew anyone woh had a Montagnard crossbow or bracelets. He said he had one. He told me to call him in 4-6 weeks.

I just want to know if he is official or a phony

  14. Robert Barnett

    Ethan

These last comments I made on Nov 4, 2010 were to Eathan’s response. I hope someone out there can fill in the gaps and let me know if Phil Huston is the real deal.

Hello, I have a prospective employee who claims Navy Seal status. His name is Robert Lawrence Dunn, DOB 10/21/1945. Any help you can offer is appreciated.

  18. Chuck

Trying to validate a Navy Seal, Jason Hull. Went to the Naval Academy, decorated for Valor in Iraq and Afganistan, so served in the last 10 years supposedly. Any information would be helpful, he tells everyone he is a SEAL. Having served 10 years in the Navy as an OS, all the seals I knew didn’t brag about being a SEAL. Thanks.

  19. Steve Jones

Is Tim Bradley is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL? There is a claim all over the internet that he is. He is an exibition shooter for Bretta shotguns.

  22. Tim Hancock

    Sirs,
I have a little puzzle for ya!
I’m looking for a friend of mine that was a SEAL. The problem is I can’t remember his name. I can give you some clues to go from though. I was stationed with him at Treasure Island in “A” school. He was in ET school there while I was in Radar school. He told me when we left there that he was putting in for the teams and I just said yah right. From there I lost track of him, but ran into him again in Viet Nam, where he was stationed with SEAL team 1 in Ben Luc. I was with a river boat division up river at Tra Cu and Ben Luc was our support base. I ran across him in the mess hall at Ben Luc while I was down there picking up supplies. Please help me find him. How many SEALs could there be that were with SEAL Team 1 in Ben Luc VN that were Electronic Techs? Hell, for that matter, how many SEALs were ever ET’s, not a group that you’d draw many SEALs from.
    Thanks for you help.

I am concerned for a friend and just trying to find the truth behind a very secretive man. Michael Santana is claiming to be a navy seal and that the navy is NOT ALLOWING him to hold a license or have a job. He also represents himself as retired due to a head injury. I can find zero information about an injury or him as a seal.

I’m just trying to validate his claims and put my mind at ease over my very dear friend.

  27. Joseph Ivezic

None of you know me, but i am waiting and training to reach the rank of SEAL in the US Navy. I’ll cut to the point and just ask what are some challenges that you are permitted to tell an 18 year old kid that is going to join the SEALs soon, to get ready for BUD/S training program?

P.S. is there any way a 5’10″ 140lbs kid able to complete BUD/S?

  28. Vince Eggers

I was wanting to know if i can be a Navy Seal. I had brain trauma, but i’m good now. I’ve got a metal plate in my head, but I promise I will make it through the training. just let me know.
    Thanks, Vinny

  33. Heath

I am in Okinawa Japan There is a Former Navy Guy here name is Brett Pitt,His claim is he was with Seal team 4 And occasionally he is seen walking around on base in the Gyms wearing a Buds/Seal team Blue/Yellow shirt.Going off his personality we find it hard to believe his claim,He was a HM in the Navy though we know this.Any info that you can provide on this?

  34. James

My cousin married this guy and she told me he is a former navy SEAL. When I asked why he got out she said he told her that he got “TIRED of killing people”. The dude works from temporary job to temp job in ohio warehouses and they live with her mother in the basement. Judging by the “I got TIRED of killing people” comment and his place of residence and work I think he is bluffing. I could be wrong but his first name KELLY if you can send me any info I would greatly appreciate it Thanks.

  35. Bill Casey

Looking for confirmation of a Greg or Craig Mauger as a former SEAL.

  36. Kevin Harris

I served in 3rd Ranger Battalion. I made the jump into Rio Hato, Panama.

Years later I was on the phone with a high school classmate. I had heard he had gone into the Navy. He asked me what I did in the Army and I told him.

He told me was a Seal, had served in Seal Team Six and was in the group assigned to follow us into Rio Hato to capture Noriega at his beach villa.

It was the first and last time I ever spoke with him. At the time he was out of the service.

His name is Darrell Hastings. Would have served from about 1983 to 1990, or so.

  37. Mike Lane

I have someone working for me that is claiming to be a Navy SEAL. His name is Fred Grover. Judging by his attitude, work ethic and many other attributes, I would bet a lot of money that he was never a Navy SEAL. I take great offense to this having served in the Army and having friends fighting over seas, and I would like to prove that this man was never a Navy SEAL. Is there any way I can find this out?

  38. Rob

There is a guy here in Sydney Australia claiming to be a former Seal. His name is Jon / Jonathon Nelson. Please, can it be verified that he is actually a Seal? He would be mid 50′s.

  39. anonymous

I met someone who claimed to be a Navy Seal. He not only bragged, but he had sniper weapons in his house that he took out and was inspecting for some “mission.” Wouldn’t they keep weapons like this somewhere official to be picked up before a mission so they could be properly inspected and cared for?

  40. John Golden HTCSW/SCW retired

Looking for confirmation of a Rick Criag or Craig as a former SEAL.

  41. Kimberly Bush

sheriff Paul F Petty in Pike County, IL uses his supposed SEAL training in his campaign advertisements. Other sources state that he was merely a trainer of dolphins in Pearl Harbor, while attending the U of H.
Since, Mr. Petty was a teacher of my eldest daughter, who graduated from PHS in 1989, his service would have been prior to that. I beleive that he graduated HS himself in approximately 1982-5.
Can you just let me have a yes or no?
    Thanks! For all you do.

  42. Esta Brayton

Can you tell me if Lawrence Earl Larsen, dob June 2, 1936
was ever a Navy Seal? He grew up in NY and was in the
US Navy in the 1950′s. He claimed to be a Navy Seal, top secret. He recently passed away.

  43. Melissa Lueth

My father Raymond Lawrence LeVasseur claims he was a Navy Seal, but upon asking him about a military funeral when he dies now that he is much older we think he is lying about his military experience. He claims he was with Navy Seal team 7 I believe he said only thing I ever seen that anything military was a single uniform patch that was a Navy Seal patch. Hell he could have gotten that from anywhere. When it comes to asking him about funeral arrangements he claims that he signed away his burial rights at fort Snelling in MN to be buried next to his mother in Hugo MN. Why do you think he would lie to his own daughter? He was born 3/24/50 or 3/24/48 I actually do not know my dad’s real date of birth as I think he lied to get into the military. He never had medals or a uniform or anything. My grandpa was in the navy and I have all his medals and his flag and uniforms, and I am married to a Marine and they have everything, but yet my dad has nothing. Who do I ask to obtain the info about weather or not my dad really was a Navy Seal? I am 30yrs old I detect lies out him and just need to know.

  44. Brandon Hall

He also sent me his DD-214 … You could check for me this information? Thanks for your attention

  46. Jonathan Swift

One of my officers has stated that he served as a Navy Seal. His name is Jan D. Masters. I assume there aren’t many guys with that name. He is in his late 40′s early 50′s. He has told many agencies this so its time to set the record straight.

Greetings. I am in Hamden, CT and have someone in my organization that refers to himself as a retired navy seal; and, while I do not have any great doubt about that, I remain a bit suspect for a few reasons. His name is Michael G. Romeo of West Haven, CT, approx. 60 yo. Can someone please look into this and get back to me. Thanks alot. Steven C. Sosensky, Hamden, CT.

    Hi there!

I have recently met someone who claims to be currently serving as a SEAL, i would love to believe him but i know how few people make.. i would really like to validate his word, so if someone could contact me so i can run their name by the database that would be great. I dont want to post their name out of respect and confidemtiality if he is a SEAL. He would be active duty.

    Thank you so much

  65. R Quinn

  66. Charrie

I was married to a man that says he was a navy seal. But he could never prove it, says his ex-wife threw all his stuff away. After being married, he was mean and it just didn’t jive with being a seal.

I wish someone could tell me if he was a seal.
I will give his name if someone call tell me.

  67. Barry

Guy who lives next door to me is saying hes an ex Navy seal, my past friends Mark Siciliano and John Fallon RIP make me suspect that hes not. I could be dead wrong but, I would like to know for sure. His last name is Heaton.

  69. The Grillman

Hello, as a veteran myself I have the utmost respect for anyone who has served this great country of ours, and from one veteran to another thank you. I am inquiring of a gentleman who states he was a navy seal, a number of people have asked me to check if this man was actually in the seals. His name is Fred Odonovan. If he has served I would like to stop the rhetoric and questions regarding this man. He has stated he served in Somalia etc., he also states he had a diving accident causing a lung problem. If I were to guess he has been out of the seals for approx. 15 years at least.

  70. Sean Miklas

Hello, my friends dad claims to have been SEAL Team Six before DEVGRU was formed. I don’t believe him and but feel like i need to be respectful. His name is John Dennis. He would have been in the teams in the 80′s and early 90′s.

  71. Jason Skolipski

    Good afternoon,

I have been talking to a young lady for a few months getting to know her. She claims she is the only “Muslim” female SEAL in the Navy.

I thought you couldn’t be a SEAL if you were a woman? Can anyone help me, I think I’m getting the rung through the ringer…

    Her Name: Hannah Zaban
Met her in: Fort Myers, FL.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

  74. Robert

I need to find out if a person I know was a SEAL. He constantly blabbers on everything he has done in Vietnam and all the ‘advisor’ work he has done ‘overseas’ the last few years.

    Thanks

    greetings!
we are trying to locate my grandfather, Danny Walter Rhouse. My grandmother said he used to be a member of the US navy. I just want to confirm if this is rather true. We have a picture of him wearing the navy uniform but we still want to make sure. Also, we have accepted the fact that he might be dead already, but we also want to find our long lost relatives from the States. Please, can anybody help us? we have been trying to find our lost relatives but to no luck.

any help, any help at all, will be highly appreciated. thank you so much!

PS: if this helps, we are from the Philippines. Danny Walter and my grandmother had a daughter, she is an only child. And she is my mom. Oh and the reason why we lost contact of him is because my grandmother and Danny separated early on their marriage.

Please run an authentication of a white male 24yrold ex-SEAL named Tyler G. Heinz.

  77. Andrew Erwin

Could you please authenticate an ex-SEAL named Mike Shinall. He was a former work colleague that would regularly recount stories about combat as a Navy SEAL, and I have my suspicions. He is a resident of Peoria, IL, roughly in his thirties; because he works in the restaurant industry, his assertions, I presume, are rarely corroborated or asked to be corroborated.

  78. Pat Walters

As a retired Navy CWO4 … nothing frosts my balls more than these dickless fucks posing as Navy SEALS … I have been hearing stories about a local fellow Navy retiree (E-8 rating unknown), claiming to be a former SEAL, goes by Steve Snyder … could be Stephen … not sure … I would gladly rifle you a donation check … regardless of his status.

    Thanks

    “Gunz”

  79. Lauren

Phillip Huston… He was hitchhiking, said he was Anjelica Huston’s estranged sibling. I can’t remember where he said he was going… somewhere for cancer treatment.

  80. Nancy

I recently met a man claiming to be a retired Navy Seal and claims to have been in Operation Eagle Claw. His name is Brett Pemberton and his dob i believe is 3/14/1947. I believe he was born in LA, California and grew up in Costa Mesa, Ca. I don’t believe him as I have come across several other lies he has told. Your help is appreciated.

  81. Patrick

My biological father whom I really never knew beyond the age of 3 was a SEAL, or so I was told by my late mother. I would like to know if this is true. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

His name is/was Larry C McGill. He served during Vietnam.

  82. Bob Marlowe

3-7 years ago it was reported in the weekly York County Coast Star that a local young man,a SEAL, was killed while on active duty. There was a funeral sevice held in his memory in Wells, ME How can I find the name of the that
    SEAL?
    Bob Marlowe

  83. J.W. Koonce

Just wanted to thank you for the information you helped me get. My brother was a Navy SEAL and two of his buddies i had a hard time finding but thanks to you i found them, they had changed their names and therefor not listed on the documents- P.M and R.Q

  84. Jean-Luc Cottrille

My father just passed away and he has quite a history with the Seals. He would be under Rick Wells, or Ricky Wells, or Jean-Frederic Wells, or something along those lines. He could also be under Jean-Frederic Cottrille which is what he changed his name to. Any information at all would be helpful. Thanks.

  85. J. Johnson

My old buddy Johnny Koonce went through Bud/s and graduated in January of 2009. I lost contact with him and i’m unsure if he earned a trident.

  86. Donavon Flynn

I have recently discovered a semi friend Jim Griffin lied about his time in nam and being a pow. The problem for me is he also brought in another man as the seal that rescued him, who has convently for mr griffins story died 6 years ago. This man was susspose to have won the silver star… I checked a data base and he was not listed. So now I wonder about his service as a seal. I have several friends that say he was but all of it is based on mr griffins pow lie. looksing for info on a John Masters possible seal form 65 to 75. catching mr griffin in his lie has placed doubt in manys mind and we would like verification that John was what was said of him… his family will not be notified if he wasn’t but will be if he was. would be very thankful for any help given.

  87. Angel

I need to verify if this guy I have been been talking to was really ever an ex navy seal in team 2. I have doubts about it because he keeps his identity so secretively. How can I do this, before I decide to continue any more contacts with him?

  88. Teresa

    Sirs,
Can someone please tell me if this person who has told my entire family that he is an ex Navy SEAL, really was. All I know is his name and age. We don’t believe it. His name is Gene Allen Miller, age 38.
    Thank you very much

  89. Jeremy Doxey

I have a name who states he is a SEAL. I think he is lying. I don’t like glory-hounds, and will call him out if it is untrue. Please contact me at my email. Thanks.

  90. Mark Kolb

Clarence Lamb. Would have served in the Late 50′s to early 70′s.

  91. Anthony D.

I cant beleive that this NAVY SEAL DATA BASE site exists!!! I mean, why dont we just have a CIA OPERATIVE DATA BASE while we are at it, or how about a DEA INTERNATIONAL AGENT DATA BASE??. This way, all the scumbag dirtbags terrorists, drug dealers of world can look us up and find us in this here DATA BASE. As a BUDS graduate, i think this about this most assanine thing i have ever seen. If the purpose of this site is to expose frauds by giving up the real names of former and active SEALS then this is very wrong. Their are much worse thing then someone claiming to be a SEAL. No wonder many SEALs change their names. Amazing what weve come to. Things are top secret for a reason people.

  92. J. Thomason

I absolutely agree with Anthony D. this Database is an insane idea. This should not exist. You are compromising the identities of those of us who still work independently as independent Mil. contractors. I was shocked when i saw this blog. So i guess now the question is is their a CIA infomer or better yet, a CIA operative data base out their somewhere on the net so the crazies of the world could see??

  93. Carrie Mansberger

    Sirs,
I wish to speak to anyone who knows about Donald Mansberger Sr. I am his youngest granddaughter. If you have any information please contact me at my email
carriemansberger@yahoo.com. By the way you gus are doing great. I hope you loe what you do.

  94. Cary

You got it wrong, Anthony D and J Thomason. The post above clearly says “This database may not be accessed by common citizens.” Only certain US Navy officers can access it.

  95. Chris Peterson

I have to say i agree with the post by Antony D. Cary, if the database can be accessed by navy officers only then the door is wide open really because in this day and age there are so many genius hackers that can get into anything on the net. I imagine the list of names or even a partial list could be worth a lot of money to certain idiots in the middle east and other U.S enemies. I dont think this is a good idea.

  96. Kevin L

The issue on cyber security (hacking and all) is an entirely different problem.

Where do you think does the military keep all its records, including personnel database, plans of actions, mission reports, etc? On a piece of paper? It’s 2012, we use computers now.

The records, not only personnel database, are inside a some sort of computer system. The issue should not be why have this kind of database, but how to protect military records.

  97. Mark Duncan

Hello – Is this were I would ask for verification of a man who claims to have been a SEAL in Vietnam?

  98. Annonymous

I need to know if Scott Allen Vanaria was a navy seal. This is very important. I am worried for myself and my child.

  99. Mike

Hello-I work with an individual in sales this person brags to every co-worker/customer that he was a navy seal in Vietnam and that he was also a POW for 5 years. He has never shown any of us co-workers pictures, paper work, medals no proof what so ever that he was truly a genuine Navy Seal. If he was seal them he has the right to talk about his experiences and tell customers this, but after working with him for 5 years and hearing his same old stories without one picture of him in uniform I’m having my doubts. his name is Charles Algieri please let me know if he was truly a Navy Seal. Thank you Real Navy Seals for keeping our country safe And protecting our freedom.

  100. D Brannon

I would like to verify one named Adam Nichols. He currently lives in S.C. He manged to convince most of his bar buddies that he is some kind of killer US Navy Seal. I’d like to call him out on this.

I am trying to find out about an individual here in Tampa who claims to be a former seal member during Viet Nam, in the early seventies, then went on to a career in the CIA. He claims to have enlisted in the Navy, rose through the seal teams to a rank of Lt. Commander. The whole thing sounds fishy to say the least. His name is Clark Enslin and he is originally from Pennsylvania. Thanks,,,

William Corey. And, yes..your Dad’s Uncle DID participate

  108. Tim Bradley

    Dear Sir,
I received an e-mail, a few years ago, in regards to me being a Navy Seal and paid millions for my Beretta contract. At the time I thought it was rather amusing. Little did I realize it was supposed to be the truth. Neither of these statements are the truth. Only one I'm concerned about, (Me Being A Navy Seal). I have never been in the military. Let alone a Navy Seal. I was a Bounty Hunter and ran across my share of people claiming to be Navy Seals. If they were, I wouldn't be here now, I'm sure.
With my kindest regards please accept my apologizes to every Navy Seal who read the statement. If you do happen to find out who this idiot is spreading the lies, please send me his address and SS #….
    Thank you,

    Tim Bradley,

  109. Karl Duval

Looking for info on a guy claiming to have been a member of Seal Team 15 in 1995. I can’t find any mention anywhere of a team 15 so I think he’s lying.
    Michael Demeo is his name.
He has posted documents “proving” he was a seal.
His HALO certificate was signed by a USMC LCMDR? I can’t find that rank in the USMC. I am really just looking for a yes or no as to whether he was a Seal or not. Thanks

  110. Gary Rossi

Seems like her is another Fraud: PHILLIP DALE MONKRESS.

  111. Anonymous

    Sir,
Would you be able to tell if the following guy is for real? His name is Jacob A. Greathouse and I have reasons for concern. He "is" a navy seal commander or that is what he is saying.

    LMM

  112. Anonymous

    To whom it may concern,
I have posted earlier my concern for truth in regard to a guy claiming he is a navy seal commander…Additional info is that he is team 10's shore commander and Sr. case officer and that he has trained those 4 courageous souls lost to the taliban…
Can someone verify on this person the truth identity?

  113. Jacob McInnes

I have heard that the SEAL database contains the names of everyone who ever attempted BUDS. When I earned my commission in the Army we had a guy who came to us claiming to have washed out of BUDS. Something about him just didn’t smell right. His name was Anthony Finch. I have been curious whether or not he even attempted BUDS. If someone with access doesn’t mind finding out about him I would greatly appreciate it.

  114. Lolit Mendez

  117. Ron Fortier

I have been searching for information regarding my uncle Ernest J. Fortier who was one of the original Navy Frogmen. He was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. I haven't been able to get my cousins to request his military records. I have been doing the family genealogy for nearly thirty years and would like to complete the chapter on Uncle Ernie.

From what he told me; he forged his father’s name and lied about his age when he enlisted in 1941 in San Diego. He was fifteen. He said he was in a combat construction unit (Seabees or precursor) and arrived at Pearl on a baby flattop. He also said he was at Pearl during the attack.

While in Hawaii, he went for underwater demolition training on Maui. He told me these stories when he was suffering from dementia but his children have verified that they heard the same stories growing up. I think the key points of his story are the combat construction unit, the flattop and the underwater demolition training on Maui and witnessing the Japanese attack.

He also said he was in Tokyo Harbor before Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that his unit was discharged by Admiral Nimitz when they were on Guam. My best guess at this point from research is that he may have been in UDT 12. Any help would be appreciated.

Please contact me at ron.fortier1@facebook.com or, rfortier@umassd.edu.

  122. Stacy Renae

I know of someone who claims to have beena Navy Seal Team 3. He has the documents and certificates signed by president along with his honorable discharge certificate and he even has his challenge coins. Could he still be a phony?? There's someone who's accusing him of being a poser. But how so when he has proof? I would just like to clarify bc since I met him my gut told me he was a phony.

  123. Douglas Desindes

  125. Sherry Fulford Smith

How do I confirm someone is a real retired navy seal ?

  126. Tj Smith

How can I confirm my moms boyfriend was a seal? He is abusive and not at all the character of a man of honor.

  127. April Welch

find out what the seal motto is and whenever you around him again, say the first couple of lines and see if he can finish. I was not a seal but i was an MP and if someone walks up to me and recites the first few lines, I will immediately start chanting also.. even after all these years it just comes right back in my brain!!!

  128. Angelique Singleton-Smith

We won't be going around him not great relationship there, nobody has anything nice to say. It gets ugly

  129. Mark C. Hoover

Ah Tj Smith you came to the right guy. Talk to Don Shiplely on YouTube. He has access to the REAL Navy Seal Database.
