When Navy SEALs use sniper rifles, they often need to provide silent but deadly assistance. They are sometimes used to provide cover for teammates who are in enemy territory acting out a mission. They are also often used to clear an area befo
re sending the SEALs themselves in. Traditional sniper rifles, however, will be used to disable people to clear the way. Sometimes a sniper rifle will be needed to take out larger obstacles and this is when SEALs will make use of the M82A1 rifle.
This particular semi-automatic rifle is most often used when it is necessary to take out targets like trucks, parked aircraft, and radar cabins. The M82A1 will use .50 caliber ammunition and offers a short-recoil firepower. It also has one of the longest effective ranges for a sniper rifle, with a record shot of 2,500 meters. The power of this weapon can penetrate nearly all materials used in building construction, hard armor, and Type IV body armor. This M82A1 rifle is something which Navy SEALs will rely upon when the strongest firepower is needed from safe sniping distance.
The gun itself will weigh 31 pounds and while it can range up to 57 inches, it will also provide some of the most effective firepower that SEALs need. It will use a 10x telescopic sight to deliver a shot and while it is only rated for 1,800 meters as a truly effective range, it can shoot up to 6,800 meters. This sniper rifle is one that Navy SEALs rely upon for some of their most important SEALs missions.
