When preparing for BUD/S Training there is no denying the fact that you must prepare yourself mentally and physically. Most recruits will undergo a major change in the way that they work-out. They will adhere to a strict training program in which they prepare themselves for the rigorous physical hell they will experience during BUD/S Training. This includes exercising, dieting, and omitting things such as tobacco, alcohol, and drugs from their lifestyle.
During this time many Navy SEAL recruits will seek out diets to assist them in losing weight, building muscle, and providing their bodies with the proper nutrients that it needs in order to function correctly. The problem with this is that many Navy SEAL recruits will take advantage of diets that are not effective or built to support the rigorous physical endurance and bashing that their bodies will undergo during BUD/S Training.
One of the most used diets by recruits considering the Navy SEAL is known as The Zone Diet! This diet has been proven effective at assisting individuals at losing weight. However, The Zone Diet is not recommended or endorsed by the Navy SEALs. In fact, The Zone Diet is not effective in the manner which Navy SEAL candidates desire it to be. Though you can lose weight with this diet, it does not provide the proper amount of carbs and nutrients that a Navy SEAL will need during their preparation for BUD/S Training, and specifically during BUD/S Training. Therefore, The Zone Diet should be avoided at all costs by all Navy SEAL potentials.

Now I know there is a lot out there about what you should eat but when the NSW director of fitness says you should try something else, I think he’s kind of the authority here.
